So I was delayed tonight on my way home from my mother's house. I forgot my phone on her couch. By the time I was almost home I remembered it, and turned around to go get it. It was a 10 minute delay. Not a big deal.
So what would have happened if on the way back, something amazing happened that I would have missed had I not turned around? Well I would be here telling everyone how awesome God is for making me forget my phone. I would have been extolling the virtues of coincidences, otherwise known as miracles.
Well the truth is, I made it home with no event. It was a normal ride home. Nothing surprising was waiting for me, and I didn't make it "in the nick of time" for anything that I would have missed otherwise. There was no shining light or quiet voice telling me to stop, turn around, slow down, or anything like that. All told, it was normal.
So here's my question. What if the simple fact that it was normal was the miracle? How many times do things turn out to be normal when they are anything but normal, only the miracle was invisible to me. How many times in my life has an invisible miracle happened and the normalcy of it has caused me to continue forward, focused on me, and not to stop and say, "Praise you, Father, for delivering me here in a normal way!"
For only God knows what events took place that he saved me from. I know you are probably thinking, "it was normal because nothing happened." Truth is, no one will ever know. Only God knows about the invisible miracles. So one of my challenges will be to thank Him daily for invisible miracles. The ones that I don't see. Perhaps those are the greatest ones of all.
God Bless You All,
Dan Darden.
